New Homeless Navagation Center Proposal

(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) Sept 17, 2022 — On Tuesday, September 20, I am pleased to announce that Supervisor Parlin and I are bringing forward a board item to address our shelter crisis. It will be time certain at 1:30 pm, and the action before the Board is much more comprehensive in scope than previously considered items.
Here is a summary of the recommended action:
1) Terminate the Use Agreement with CalFire for the old juvenile hall, effective December 15, 2022.
2) Implement a temporary Navigation Center as quickly as possible after December 15 at that location.
3) Work with the Superior Court to relocate the juvenile court (under old juvenile hall) to Building C.
4) Prepare architectural/design drawings and cost estimates to construct a permanent Navigation Center at 300 Fair Lane (old Sheriff’s site), constructed no later than December 2024.
5) Complete design drawings and cost estimates for a new juvenile hall and return to BOS for further direction
6) Return to BOS within 60 days with potential locations for the Registrar of Voters.
