Arrest of Looter in Forest Hill

Placer County Sheriff's Office

(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) Sept 10, 2022 — To members of the public who are concerned about the arrest of Mr. Gross, we hope this update clears the misinformation that has rapidly spread across social media:

We first ask the public to please be respectful of the judicial process and remember that every arrestee is innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.

Mr. Gross’s arrest originated as a 911 call to dispatch for a burglary in progress on the afternoon of September 8th. Mr. Gross had posed as a contractor to get past several CHP checkpoints and unlawfully entered an emergency zone. Our deputies responded to the residence in question and found Mr. Gross had forced entry into the residence, took several high-value items from the home, and placed them in his truck. The investigation determined Mr. Gross did not have permission to be at the residence, and he was arrested for burglary and unauthorized entry into an emergency area. Mr. Gross has since posted bail.

Additional follow-up was conducted this afternoon and the reporting party again confirmed Mr. Gross DID NOT have permission to enter the residence.
