PUSD Completes Another Successful Series of Enrichment Classes for Students

[Jessica Trumble]

Having a group of youth with guitars on their knees. A guitar sitting across a student’s lap; fingers bumbling to find notes or children singing, dancing, and acting or paint brushes gliding on a canvas to create a blended watercolor sunset or shoes hitting the pavement to cheers and encouragement, initially may not be thought of as educational opportunities provided at school. Here at Pioneer Union School District, offering enrichment programs are a critical component of every student’s education.

Superintendent Annette Lane shares her thoughts on the importance of enrichment programs, “Our Pioneer USD after-school enrichment program enables students to realize their potential in a variety of settings beyond the classroom.  Students learn how to positively grow their interests and skills to have a more powerful understanding of their potential.”

PUSD recently completed an 8-week series of Spring Enrichment Classes offered to all students. Classes offered were in Guitar, Art, Drama, Girls on the Run, and Tutoring that occurred on every Tuesday and Thursday from February 15th through April 7th, after school. The El Dorado High School District aided in providing transportation for all that participated.

Spring Enrichment Classes at PUSD were incredibly successful with a majority of the student body at all three schools of Pioneer Elementary, Walt Tyler Elementary, and Mountain Creek Middle School participating. PUSD is excited to continue to offer a new series of enrichment in the fall. Developing students takes a strong team, committed passion, and a wide array of opportunities for youth. PUSD wants to continue to be a leader in facilitating students to not only succeed but excel in education and in life.
