Car found in river near Mosquito Bridge; search ongoing – Mountain Democrat

PLACERVILLE, Calif. — The investigation continues, as does the search, according to Officer Andrew Brown with the Placerville Office of the California Highway Patrol.
Tuesday update:
California Highway Patrol investigators say they have contacted the owner of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, a Placerville resident, who is reporting the vehicle as stolen. The incident appears to be intentional and it is not thought the car was occupied when it entered the river, according to CHP officials. Evidence at the scene indicated the Malibu may have traveled down into the river canyon from the southwest side of the Mosquito Bridge.
