El Dorado County (June 25, 2024) – Excitement is mounting at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds as Placerville Speedway prepares to host one of its most anticipated events of the season. This Saturday, June 29th, marks the annual John Padjen Kids Bike Night presented by the Pizza Factory, promising an evening of thrilling races and family fun.
A highlight of the event is free admission for all children aged 11 and under, who are not only spectators but participants. Following the heat races, young attendees are invited to bring their bikes onto the track for their own racing experience, complete with safety helmets as a requirement.
For those looking to fuel up before the action-packed evening, the Pizza Factory across various localities including Placerville, Pleasant Valley, and Auburn stands ready with a tempting array of pizzas, lasagnas, and freshly made salads.
Scott Russell, the track’s Promoter, emphasized the event’s significance: “Kids Bike Night has been a cherished tradition here at Placerville Speedway, celebrating our young fans and honoring the legacy of John Padjen, our former Promoter.”
John Padjen, who played a pivotal role in revitalizing Placerville Speedway in the early 1980s, introduced the concept of Kids Bike Night. His vision not only saved the historic venue but also established it as a hub for motorsport excellence in the region.
This Saturday’s program features an impressive lineup of racing categories including the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Mountain Democrat Ltd. Late Models, Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks, and Mountain Democrat Mini Trucks. Leading contenders such as Andy Forsberg and Dan Brown Jr. promise high-octane action on the quarter-mile clay oval.
Ticket prices are set at $18 for adults, with discounts available for seniors, military personnel, and juniors aged 12-17. Admission for children aged 11 and under is free, ensuring an affordable night out for families.
Gates open at 3pm, offering a lively pre-race atmosphere with live music and Happy Hour specials until 6pm. Racing kicks off with hot laps at 5:15pm, following a pit meeting at 4:45pm. For those unable to attend, CaliDirt.TV will broadcast live coverage of the event, ensuring fans don’t miss a moment of the action.
