CAMERON PARK, Calif. (Dec 23 2023) – In the heart of Cameron Park, a community unites once more to support survivors of the devastating Caldor Fire. The Food Bank of El Dorado County, under the leadership of founder Mike Sproull, has launched a compassionate initiative to ensure that those still grappling with the aftermath of the fire find solace in the warmth of donated coats and blankets.

The Ongoing Struggle
Over two years have passed since the Caldor Fire ravaged multiple Sierra communities, leaving many residents with nothing but ashes and memories. The scars of this disaster still linger, prompting the Food Bank to step forward and address the pressing needs of those who continue to rebuild their lives.

A Call for Community Solidarity
Mike Sproull, the visionary behind the Food Bank of El Dorado County, expressed the urgency of community support, stating, “We’re just all a community team trying to help our neighbors that are still struggling to make ends meet.” The call for solidarity echoes through the serene landscapes of Cameron Park, as the community rallies to extend a helping hand to their neighbors in need.

Coats and Blankets Drive
Running from now until the end of January, the Food Bank is encouraging locals to contribute to the cause by donating warm coats and heavy blankets. The initiative aims not only to provide physical warmth but also to convey the warmth of compassion and solidarity to those who have faced immense adversity.

Drop-off Locations
The community can actively participate in this collective effort by dropping off new or gently used coats and blankets at two designated locations:

  • Food Bank of El Dorado County — 4550 Business Drive, Cameron Park
  • Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce — 4095 Cameron Park Drive, Cameron Park

Beyond Material Contributions
Recognizing the diverse needs of Caldor Fire survivors, the Food Bank emphasizes that gift cards and monetary donations are also invaluable. These contributions enable the organization to cater to a spectrum of needs, ranging from essential food supplies to the comfort of coats and blankets.

As winter casts its chilly embrace, the Food Bank of El Dorado County stands as a beacon of hope, orchestrating a symphony of goodwill that resonates throughout the community. The collective efforts and donations from individuals, organizations, and businesses alike will undoubtedly make a significant impact, lighting the path towards recovery for those who’ve weathered the storm.
