South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (October 29, 2023) – In a significant development for local agency leadership, Tamara Wallace has been elected to the Board of Directors of the California Association of Local Agency Formation Commissions (CALAFCO). Tamara Wallace’s journey to the CALAFCO Board commenced with her nomination by the El Dorado Local Agency Formation Commission during their meeting on June 28, 2023. Her candidacy was a testament to her dedication and qualifications in the field of local governance.
On Thursday, October 19, 2023, members of the CALAFCO Central Region made a decisive choice by electing Tamara Wallace to serve as their representative on the CALAFCO Board of Directors. Her role will be that of a city representative for the expansive Central Region, covering 19 counties extending from Placer in the north to Kern in the south. Importantly, CALAFCO Board seats carry a two-year term duration, and there are no term limits, allowing for a sustained commitment to advancing the interests of local agencies.
“I am honored to represent the Central Region on the CALAFCO Board and look forward to working to further the agenda of all LAFCO agencies across the State of California, most especially El Dorado LAFCO,”
expressed Wallace, reflecting her enthusiasm and commitment to this new role.
Tamara Wallace brings a wealth of experience and local insight to her position. A resident of El Dorado County for the past 26 years, with roots in both South Lake Tahoe and Pollock Pines, she is deeply entrenched in the community she now represents on the CALAFCO Board.
Tamara Wallace’s involvement in local governance has been substantial, as illustrated by her role as a first-term City of South Lake Tahoe Councilor. Her dedication to public service was also evident in her role as a guest speaker at the SLT Republican Women Lincoln Day Dinner, where she shared the platform with retired Judge Steven Bailey and Todd White, the Program Manager of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Notably, while serving as South Lake Tahoe Mayor in April 2021, Wallace announced her candidacy for the County District 5 Supervisor seat. Although the victory in that race was secured by Brooke Laine, her commitment to public service remains unwavering.
Furthermore, her husband, Duane Wallace, made significant contributions to the community as the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of El Dorado County Western Slope in 2008. This shared commitment to community betterment serves as a testament to the Wallace family’s enduring dedication to the welfare of their fellow residents.
As Tamara Wallace assumes her role on the CALAFCO Board, the future of local agency formation and governance in California is poised to receive the benefits of her experience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to public service.
