(PLACERVILLE, CA) – Residents and visitors now have a new hotline number (530) 573-7999 and email address VHREnforcement@edcgov.us to report Vacation Home Rental (VHR) and Ranch Marketing issues. These new tools are now the preferred methods for the public to file anonymous complaints regarding VHR or Ranch Marketing properties.
El Dorado County Code Enforcement regulates the VHR and Ranch Marketing programs for all areas outside of the incorporated cities of Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. Vacation Home Rentals are whole houses in neighborhoods rented for less than 30 days. Ranch Marketing involves commercial activities held on agricultural land. For example, many of the Apple Hill businesses fall within the Ranch Marketing program.
These programs often receive complaints related to noise, trash, parking, and events. The new hotline will record voicemails and immediately dispatch them to the on-duty code enforcement officer. This officer will respond to the complainant and contact the responsible party to resolve the issue. The County anticipates that a quicker response by Code Enforcement will help mitigate the impacts of VHRs and Ranch Marketing properties on their communities.
“By implementing our new hotline and email address, the public will now have near real-time communication with our VHR and Ranch Marketing code enforcement team, leading to improved neighborhood compatibility between our locals and visitors,” said Melanie Shasha, El Dorado County senior planner and VHR program lead.
The new hotline and email are currently effective.
