CAMINO, Calif. — In a shocking case that has rocked the community, a 61-year-old elementary school janitor in El Dorado County is facing multiple counts of committing sexual acts with a child under the age of 10. Christopher Slager, a resident of Pollock Pines, was taken into custody on Friday, May 12, after an investigation by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Slager, who works as a custodian at Camino Union Elementary School, is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a child under the age of 10. The exact details of the allegations have not been released, but authorities are taking them very seriously.
Laurisa Stuart, the interim superintendent of the Camino Union School District, released a statement confirming Slager’s employment with the district and expressing her concern for the safety and well-being of the students. The district has vowed to fully cooperate with law enforcement during the investigation.
Following his arrest, Slager was booked into the El Dorado County Placerville Jail. His bail has been set at a staggering $2,000,000.
In a recent court hearing, Slager’s attorney requested that his plea hearing be rescheduled to allow for additional work to be done before the pretrial. El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Mark A. Ralphs granted the request and rescheduled the plea hearing for Friday, October 6, in Department 2.
As the case moves forward, the community is left grappling with the disturbing allegations against a trusted employee of the school district. Parents and community members are demanding answers and assurances that steps will be taken to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding this case to come forward and contact the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are determined to ensure the safety and well-being of the children in their community.
