Stolen Car Chase Ends in South Lake Tahoe with One Arrested

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – An Incline Village, Nev. man was arrested Thursday night after a stolen car chase that went through Washoe County, Douglas County, and ended in South Lake Tahoe.

Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) called South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) to alert them just before 7:30 p.m. on December 8 that they were inbound into the city limits in pursuit of a stolen vehicle, a 1994 Expedition. SLTPD went to Stateline to put out spike strips on the highway but missed the car that was going at a reported 90 mph.

SLTPD joined DCSO in pursuit when the driver turned left from US50 onto Fremont Avenue, then made a right onto Treehaven, a dead end. DCSO deputies stopped the stolen vehicle by ramming it into a personal vehicle parked on the road and then had the driver stopped at gunpoint when the driver fled on foot according to SLTPD Officer Traci Trapani. During the foot pursuit, the suspect allegedly threw plastic chairs at law enforcement. They caught the man and he was arrested.
