Local Filmmaker’s Debut

(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) Sept 25, 2022 — “Waiting on the World,” written by an EDH native, premieres at the Crest Theatre Sept. 24.

You can’t get more local to the El Dorado Hills area than native William (Billy) Nunes. His younger years began at Lake Forest Elementary School, the on to Marina Village Middle School and Oak Ridge High School, where he played basketball with the 2005 state championship team. His time on the court continued at California State University, East Bay but abruptly came to an end during an adult recreation league game.

Nunes headed south, graduating from Concordia University in Irvine with a degree in sports management. At the time, he said, he thought he wanted to be Jerry Maguire but then explained, “Unfortunately, after I graduated, I saw fairly quickly that being a sports agent wasn’t where I wanted to be.”

Nunes and his wife moved to Nashville, where she attended nursing school while he did odd jobs that gave him the time to write, completing the first draft of a film within three months. The couple returned to El Dorado Hills and began the filmmaking process […]
