Feed Stores Donate to Fire Victims – to a Fraudster – EDSO Recovers Donations

(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) Sept 15, 2022 — Yesterday, EDSO Patrol was called to a local feed store regarding fraudulent checks being passed.
The suspect was misrepresenting herself as a charity, supporting animals that had been evacuated from the Mosquito Fire. The suspect used the check to purchase thousands of dollars in animal supplies and the stores donated supplies, believing it was for a good cause. Deputies quickly found another feed store that was also a victim of a similar theft.
Deputies were able to identify the suspect and located her driving a vehicle near her home with stolen property in it, and later at her home to locate more stolen property. The suspect, Summer Mascott was arrested and the property returned to the businesses.
