Pacific Islander Man Accused of Intentionally Setting South Lake Tahoe House on Fire

2NEWS

(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) Aug 8, 2022 — A South Lake Tahoe man is behind bars accused of intentionally setting a house on fire this weekend.

Police and fire crews responded to the home just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The fire was quickly knocked down and contained to just the home.

Police say no one was inside the home, and no injuries were reported.

While on scene, police say they talked with a bystander, 22-year-old Marlon Alvarado who refused to leave the immediate area and kept interrupting fire services. As a result, Alvarado was arrested and booked into El Dorado County Jail for obstructing and delaying an officer.

During a subsequent investigation, officers say they learned that Alvarado lived at the house involved in the fire.

On Sunday, arson investigators began investigating the origin of the fire. South Lake Tahoe Police Detectives also responded to begin an investigation.

Investigators say they established probable cause for Alvarado intentionally set the house on fire.

Investigators say they also had probable cause to believe Alvarado vandalized his neighbor’s vehicle.

Alvarado remains in El Dorado County Jail on three felony charges:

  1. Out of curiosity why is the man’s ethnicity noted in the headline. I have yet to see “White Man Arrested for Arson” as a headline.

      1. You don’t know where he is from. You only know his ethnicity. African Americans are not always from Africa, Hispanics are not always from Spain, Mexico or Central and South America. And again, I don’t recall seeing people’s ethnicity noted in headlines. C’mon Cris, you know better.

        1. I know he is Filipino Doris.
I know quite a bit about him.
He is much more open about his life then you seem to understand.
I made a Freemason that is also Filipino. I verified my information back in his birthplace.
I know where he went to school, where he first worked, where he worked in Reno and much more.
As you noted yourself that he could be ” African Americans are not always from Africa, Hispanics are not always from Spain, Mexico or Central and South America” I cleared up any confusion by identifying him as a “Pacific Islander.
Since he is a self promoter he has opened up his history as Public Information it was not really hard to identify him and with contacts back in the Philippines it was not hard to verify his claims such as:

“My goal is to further expand my horizons and impart my expertise to the growing demands of the hospitality industry.
