PLACERVILLE, Calif. May 27, 2022 — Law enforcement leaders, 3Strands share important information to protect kids

Members of the greater Sacramento community recently gathered to hear from a panel of experts concerning online exploitation and human trafficking.

As the COVID pandemic swept across the world in 2020, another pandemic increased in the community — human trafficking. To shed light on human trafficking in the community, attendees heard from El Dorado Hills Assistant District Attorney Lisette Suder, Sacramento Deputy District Attorney Courtney Martin, Sacramento DA Investigator Annette Fucles, Department of Justice Special Agent Jason Nichols and Ashlie Bryant, CEO 3Strands Global Foundation.

Panelists gave important information regarding how online exploitation and human trafficking have changed since the pandemic and how children are targeted. They explained what they are seeing locally in the community and highlighted the importance of prevention.

Panelists answered questions such as: What is online exploitation and human trafficking, and how could it affect my child? How can I navigate a conversation about online safety with my child? What does prevention look like? And what is something I can do today to help?

“Human traffickers did not stop their exploitation when the pandemic hit. We have seen increases in the crime since March 2020 and we have continued to protect those most vulnerable to human trafficking,” said Ashlie Bryant CEO 3Strands Global Foundation. “Today’s event was an opportunity to highlight why we must continue to be vigilant and aware of human trafficking so we can get resources to those who are victimized.”
