PLACERVILLE, Calif. – El Dorado County Animal Services is inviting community members to join them for a “Family Fun Day” and fundraiser on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Animal Services Shelter, located at 6435 Capitol Avenue in Diamond Springs.

“In addition to a chance to visit our shelter, meet our staff and volunteers, and see all of the wonderful animals awaiting adoption, this family friendly event will include multiple activities for the kids, food trucks, and an opportunity to participate in an important shelter fundraiser,” said El Dorado County Animal Services Chief, Henry Brzezinski. “We hope everyone can come out to join us.”

According to Brzezinski, this event is great way to spend time as a family or with friends, enjoy the shelter and give to a great cause. The event is hosted and coordinated by volunteers of the Animal Services shelter, along with staff oversight. There is no cost to attend the event.

Shelter volunteers have planned the event to include several family fun activities, such as rock painting and making pet toys. Items will also be available for purchase, such as books for all ages, plants and delicious baked goods, with all proceeds of the fundraiser sales going directly to benefit the shelter animals.

“The volunteers are hoping to specifically raise money for the purchase of a portable ultrasound unit for the animals at the shelter,” said Brzezinski. “An ultrasound unit would be extremely helpful at the shelter. It would help our veterinarians and vet techs identify important health or medical issues of the shelter animals, such as a blockage, pregnancy or other issue, and get the animals any needed assistance as early as possible so that they stay healthy and safe.”

“Events like this are so much more than fundraisers,” said Animal Services volunteer Sheila Igoe. “They’re an opportunity to invite the community to the shelter to showcase our wonderful facility, staff, volunteer opportunities and, of course, adoptable animals.”

According to Brzezinski, the shelter volunteers have hosted similar community events benefiting the shelter animals in the past. “We’d like to thank our volunteers for hosting this event and for their ongoing efforts to support the needs of our shelter animals,” added Brzezinski.

Animal Services is inviting all residents, however, they ask that residents please not bring pets from home to this event.
