PLACERVILLE, Ca. (Sue Taylor) — Todd White was removed as Supervisor Turnboo’s Assistant by ALL 4 of the Board of Supervisors which looks like retaliation for his political beliefs.
I have never seen this happen in the history of El Dorado County, or done by any other jurisdiction. I don’t even know if it’s legal.
We can now say we have 4 Board of Supervisors that do not believe that each Supervisor should be able to appoint those that best represent the interest of their constituents.
It’s a pretty sad day in El Dorado County.

“What were the grounds for the motion to even bring this to a vote?”
Sue Taylor –
“They disclosed zero. Counsel stated they could remove an employee for no cause. Every employee in El Dorado County should be terrified.”
Beverly Drysch –
“Pretty amazed they don’t have to disclose some kind of reasoning publicly.”
Sue Taylor –
“City Councilman Dennis Thomas (Supervisor Thomas’s husband) was not re-elected to office. This happened after Congressman McClintock sent out a flier about Dennis Thomas due to the way the City Council treated McClintock’s Administrative Assistance when she asked for support to rename the Placerville Post Office after Deputy Ismael. Dennis blamed Todd White for the flier… I’m pretty sure this was retaliation.”
Kirk Callan Smith –
“We can understand the disappointment Dennis Thomas and his supporters have about loosing, b it’s no fun. But it’s shameful to smear the public and Dave Yarborough who won fair and square or to conclude that McClintock’s mailer made a difference. It didn’t. Two if the three McClintock endorsed were at the bottom of the long list while the third, Dave Yarborough, a long time resident of the area [longer than some who have served] got more votes than Thomas. I didn’t vote for either one but believe Dave Yarborough and the voters of this town deserve respect and we should all give Dave a chance, free of nasty smears.”
“There were plenty of issues and factors voters had to consider. Blaming Tom McClintock is just sour grapes and not supported by the facts.”
