EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. (November 21, 2023) – After extensive negotiations and public discussions, the El Dorado Hills Community Services District (EDHCSD) has successfully reached a milestone agreement with Serrano Associates LLC to acquire 66 acres for $10 million. The deal includes the purchase of 55 acres of the Old Executive Golf Course and the donation of 11 acres adjoining the archery range along El Dorado Hills Boulevard.
Described as a “watershed moment” by EDHCSD Board of Directors President Noelle Mattock, the agreement grants the community 18 months to secure financing for a second purchase covering 41.5 acres. Funding options, including a publicly funded bond measure, are under consideration. The purchase ensures perpetual zoning and use of the Old Executive Golf Course property.
Residents expressed overwhelming support for the purchase, emphasizing its significance in controlling the community’s destiny. While concerns about the cost and a 45-day escrow window were raised, the unanimous board decision received applause from the audience. Parker Development Company/Serrano Associates’ active rezoning application remains a concern, with the EDHCSD aiming to protect the land from residential development, as demonstrated by a 2015 advisory vote.
The former golf course, closed in 2007, was losing $250,000 annually and required significant infrastructure improvements. The EDHCSD sees this acquisition as a pivotal step in shaping the community’s future.
