PLEASANT VALLEY, Calif. (October 19, 2023) – A harrowing tale of alleged misconduct emerged as Pioneer Union Elementary School Principal Boyd Holler, typically a figure of authority in the school community, appeared in an El Dorado County Superior Court on Tuesday. Holler, 37, found himself facing a litany of disturbing charges, casting a dark shadow over his reputation as a pillar in the educational community.
In a shocking courtroom scene, Holler entered a plea of not guilty to eight felonies, including four counts of showing pornography to a minor and four additional counts of contact with a minor for sexual offenses. The charges, described in court documents, paint a horrifying picture of a man who had hidden, according to the District Attorney, a sexual interest in children for an extended period.
The unsettling revelations stem from an investigation that exposed Holler’s activities on the messaging app, “Kik.” In an appalling turn of events, he believed he was conversing with a 12-year-old girl from Philadelphia. Court records indicate that the minor sent photos, unmistakably depicting a prepubescent child. The DA alleges that from his principal’s office, his home in Pollock Pines, and even the Pleasant Valley Market,

Holler sent explicit videos and nude pictures of himself. Additionally, he is said to have asked deeply disturbing questions about the minor’s virginity. Even more disturbing is the alleged plot to visit the girl during Thanksgiving break, with court documents detailing “grossly detailed” plans for sexual acts following a “kidnapping” scenario at a hotel.
Further revelations from the messaging app conversations expose an even darker side to this story. Holler reportedly bragged about seeing ten of his own students topless in his school office and proposed that his students go topless in exchange for avoiding detention. Another conversation with a minor from the UK revealed an allegation that another student had touched him in his office.
The Pioneer Union Superintendent took swift action, assuring parents that no students from the district had been identified as related to the incident. However, the DA emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and called upon the community to provide any information that could link the principal to a “child predator” who has, they claim, been posing as a child advocate for at least a decade.
Boyd Holler currently remains in custody without bail, with the district attorney arguing that he poses a flight risk and could potentially harm a child if released. Court records indicated that he had expressed thoughts of self-harm due to the imminent loss of his wife and job.
Before his role at Pioneer Elementary, Holler had served as the principal at Gold Trail School in the summer of 2017. Prior to that, he worked as a teacher at a school in Camino, eventually transitioning to the role of school administrator and assistant principal.
Holler’s next court appearance for a bail review is scheduled for October 27, where more details about this disquieting case are expected to emerge.
