EL DORADO COUNTY (October 5, 2023) – In 2023, El Dorado County extended a process in community planning to further enhance and update the county’s Strategic Plan’s goals, objectives, and priorities. It is of utmost importance that this Plan remains a dynamic and relevant document, adapting to the ever-changing needs of our community. In light of this the county requested public input to ensuring that the residents of El Dorado County are provided with the best possible service and opportunities.

What are the top five issues County leaders should focus on, in order of importance/priority?

• Infrastructure and road maintenance & improvement, especially potholes and snow removal
• Fire safety, prevention, and the increase in fire insurance
• Long term solutions for the homeless population
• Improve functionality/responsiveness of Planning and Building Dept.
• Ensure fire, water, law enforcement, fire, hospitals, schools are adequate to meet the needs of the increasing population.


What County services do you use?

o Roads and Infrastructure

o Parks and Recreation
o Planning and Building
o Law Enforcement


What specific things should County leaders do to better provide government services?

• Improve roads and infrastructure across the County & better notify the public of upcoming work.
• Keep the county rural, less growth and development.
• More transparency in all areas but especially planning and zoning issues.
• Focus on customer service and efficiency with public services such as building, planning, and health departments.
• Conduct more outreach and engagement with residents of the County.
• Reduce employee turnover, invest in employees, provide proper training and compensation.
• Bring more retail to stop the tax dollar leakage to Folsom.
• Increase transparency and visibility within County dealings.
• Hold evening or weekend Board of Supervisors Meetings to increase public participation, town hall style meetings.
• Listen to the constituents; keep your promises.
• More communication with/information to the public.
• Look at the big-picture needs of the County rather than pet projects per district when choices have to be made with limited/dwindling revenue/resources.
• Use the General Plan as a guide for all decisions.
