Shingle Springs tribe, owner of Red Hawk Casino, buys 182 acres near Placerville

The tribe that owns Red Hawk Casino has purchased a large piece of land near Placerville.
Public records show the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians bought multiple parcels off Sundance Trail near Placerville for $8.8 million earlier this month. The 182-acre property is 3 miles past the tribe’s Red Hawk Casino along U.S. 50, off El Dorado Road.
“We are always interested in purchasing land near the rancheria when it becomes available,” said Tribal Chairwoman Regina Cuellar, in a statement.
According to El Dorado County Assessor information, the parcels have a few residences on them, but are largely undeveloped.
“Housing for our tribal members has been a long-term priority,” Cuellar’s statement said. “This property, only minutes from the rancheria, will serve our membership for its housing needs.”
