(GRIZZLY FLATS, CALIFORNIA) Aug 20, 2022 — Fire and EMS ground units from El Dorado County Fire and Pioneer Fire called upon air ambulance Calstar 3 to assist with the speedy transport of a pediatric patient who suffered a long fall in the Grizzly Flat area.

While the child was in good spirits on the scene and injuries appeared minor, children may destabilize quickly and with little advance warning if and when internal injuries present. The call for help came at 9:54 AM. OES Engine 4310 called dispatch to request Calstar 3 at 10:04 AM, and the patient arrived at an area trauma center at 11:20 AM

When speed is of the essence, solid interagency communication, experienced ground-based paramedic assessment, and capable air medical providers come together for impressive care and transport times. As a result, this child received the best possible medical care within a very short timeframe.
