Hundreds Evacuated From Gold Country’s Electra Fire

(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) July 6, 2022 — Hundreds of people have been evacuated from a fast-moving fire in Amador County that was started near Vox Beach, about 50 miles southeast of Sacramento, on the Fourth of July. As of Wednesday morning, the Electra Fire had burned 3,900 acres after tripling overnight. It is just 5% contained.
Over 1,200 firefighters, 100 engines and 14 helicopters have been deployed to the area. One firefighter has already suffered burns, according to CBS News.
The evacuation orders have affected 700 residents in Amador County and up to 400 people in Calaveras County. A map of evacuation zones and centers has been provided by the Amador County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to the evacuations, thousands of people have been left without power.
