EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. (October 10, 2023) – A Sacramento resident tragically lost his life on Oct. 9, 2023 in a collision that occurred on Highway 50 in El Dorado Hills, according to a statement by the California Highway Patrol. At approximately 5:30 p.m., authorities were alerted to an overturned motorhome on the westbound lanes of Highway 50 near Silva Valley Parkway. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that the motorhome had caught fire, and the flames had subsequently spread to the surrounding hillside. The El Dorado Hills Fire Department promptly arrived and successfully extinguished the fire.
After conducting a thorough investigation of the incident, officers determined that a 1990 Mallard Motorhome had collided with a 1999 Ford Expedition, resulting in the motorhome overturning. Tragically, the Ford Expedition also flipped over due to the impact, ultimately leading to the driver’s death. The deceased driver has been identified as Eric West, aged 55, by the California Highway Patrol. The passenger of the Ford Expedition and the motorhome’s driver were both transported to UC Davis Medical Center for medical attention.
