EL DORADO COUNTY (October 3, 2023) – “Still progressing, inspections are currently being done for the issued building permits,” county spokeswoman Carla Hass said in an email about the project, which is being developed by San Francisco-based Core Hotels LLC. The new hotel will be located in the large lot nestled between the Mercedes-Benz dealership and the Regal Cinemas. Core Hotels previously owned the Holiday Inn Express in the El Dorado Hills Town Center, selling it in 2019 for $21 million. In addition to Marriott, Core Hotels LLC has owned and managed hotels for more than 35 years, including Hilton, Embassy Suites, and Hampton Inn brands. There are 176 Aloft hotels in more than 25 countries. Sam Devdhara, a partner in San Francisco-based 2015 Vine St. LLC, also owns and operates the 93-room Holiday Inn Express hotel that has been in Town Center for about a decade. The Aloft building in Town Center will have stone accents to match the design elements of the rest of the center, Mansour said.
“Aloft by Marriott” in El Dorado Hills is being described as a “hip, lively hotel for the next generation traveler.” Amenities are meant to appeal to a tech-savvy traveler, including voice-activated rooms and room service delivered by a robot, using a smartphone. Core Hotels estimated the construction cost at around $26 million, according to media stories covering that was to start work in early 2022. The four-story structure will have a total of 115 units. “We plan to get the robot,” Devdhara said. “There is nothing like this hotel in greater Sacramento,” he said. With its link to the Marriott International Inc. (Nasdaq: MAR) reservation system and rewards program, the Aloft in El Dorado Hills will get its share of business, Devdhara said. Aloft properties also feature communal pool tables, connections for all kinds of smart devices and lounges with full bars, many of which are programmed with live local music.
Aloft hotels are generally near airports or city centers. Town Center, a lifestyle center in development since the 1980s by the Mansour Co., is the closest thing to a downtown in El Dorado Hills. The four-story hotel will benefit from being visible from Highway 50, said Tony Mansour, founder of the Mansour Company.
For months, rumors have floated about whether a hotel under construction in the El Dorado Hills Town Center was still moving forward. Some details about the hotel have emerged online. A Pinterest page for the project from interior designer Alicia Mitchell Designs shows the hotel will have a bar/lounge, fitness center and meeting space.
