EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. (October 15, 2023) – In a heartfelt and bittersweet celebration this week, the El Dorado County community and the District Attorney’s Office came together to honor and bid farewell to a dedicated public servant, Victim Witness Program Manager Patti Harrington. After an esteemed 24-year-long career, Patti has decided to retire, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment to the pursuit of justice for crime victims.
Patti’s journey with the District Attorney’s Office began in 1999 when she took her first step into the world of public service at the front desk. Through dedication, hard work, and an unyielding passion for justice, she steadily climbed the ranks, eventually becoming the Program Manager of the Victim Witness Unit.
Throughout her career, Patti demonstrated a remarkable selflessness, putting the citizens of El Dorado County and her DA’s Office family ahead of her own needs and desires. Her devotion to seeking justice for victims of crime became a cornerstone of her work.
One of Patti’s significant contributions was her involvement in 100 lifer hearings, where she tirelessly advocated against the release of some of the most dangerous inmates that El Dorado County had incarcerated. Her dedication to keeping the community safe was unwavering.
Patti also played a vital role in the Child Advocacy Center, where she worked closely with child victims of crime. She was frequently assigned to high-profile child homicide cases, cases that she holds near and dear to her heart to this day.
As the El Dorado County community bids farewell to Patti, her legacy will endure. The victims she has worked to support and protect will remain close to her heart forever. However, Patti is now looking forward to a well-deserved retirement, where she plans to spend more quality time with her eight grandkids, enjoy the company of her husband, who has also recently retired, and embark on new adventures, including cruising down the coast to Catalina on their boat.
This remarkable woman’s tireless commitment to seeking justice for crime victims has left an indelible mark on the community. Patti Harrington’s retirement marks the end of an era but also the beginning of a new chapter in her life, filled with well-deserved joy and relaxation. The El Dorado County community joins in thanking Patti for her dedication and wishes her a happy and fulfilling retirement. Her legacy of service and dedication will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
