EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. (November 22, 2023) – California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the sentencing of Robert Sedlar, convicted on 100 felony counts in a $7 million mortgage fraud scheme targeting vulnerable homeowners across 11 counties.
Robert Sedlar, president of Los Angeles-based Grand View Financial LLC, promised foreclosure assistance but, through deceptive practices, caused every victim to lose their homes. Sentenced to 25 years and four months in prison, Sedlar’s scheme involved false court documents, bankruptcies, and collecting funds while failing to eliminate mortgage liens.
The victims, including an El Dorado Hills homeowner, faced financial loss and distress. Sedlar’s conviction, following a five-week trial, included charges of conspiracy, filing false documents, grand theft, elder abuse, and prohibited acts by a foreclosure consultant.
Two other employees, Steven Rogers and Audrey Gan, pleaded guilty to related charges.
The prosecution, led by the Department of Justice’s Fraud and Special Prosecutions Section, resulted from a joint investigation involving federal and local law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the commitment to holding bad actors accountable and warning against scams targeting Californians.
