An inmate from El Dorado County in California has been apprehended after escaping from a conservation camp.
Jarid Taylor, a 42-year-old serving a three-year sentence for second-degree robbery, walked away from Growlersburg Conservation Camp sometime on Thursday night or Friday morning. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) conducted a search and notified local law enforcement agencies.
Taylor was captured without incident around 3:15 a.m. and has been transported to Sierra Conservation Center. The El Dorado County District Attorney will consider escape charges against Taylor.
The camp’s primary mission is to support emergency response efforts and complete community service and conservation projects. The CDCR reports that 99% of individuals who escape without permission are apprehended.
