El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on August 14, 2023, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Detectives began investigating the report of a sexual assault that occurred in the area of Cool.
A female reported to deputies that she had been sexually assaulted after being severely beaten and held against her will. Detectives authored a search warrant and multiple locations were searched to include a residence in Roseville where the suspect was ultimately located and taken into custody.
During the search, evidence related to the sexual assault, including DNA and personal belongings of both the victim and suspect, were collected. The victim was immediately provided with medical attention and support services to address her physical and emotional well-being.
The suspect was identified as Joshua Slaughter. Slaughter was arrested on multiple sexual assault and domestic violence charges. At this time, we believe Joshua may be related to additional sexual assault cases and want to provide contact information for people to come forward.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to this case to come forward. Any witnesses or individuals who may have noticed suspicious activities in the area of Cool around the time of the incident are encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office or provide information anonymously through the tip line.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to ensuring the safety of its residents and holding offenders accountable for their actions. They appreciate the cooperation and support of the community in assisting with this investigation.
Detectives will continue to work closely with the District Attorney’s Office to build a strong case against Joshua Slaughter. The victim’s well-being and safety remain a top priority, and the Sheriff’s Office will provide ongoing support and assistance throughout the legal process.
