“We are delighted to have someone of Dr. Minson’s caliber, experience working with rural counties, and enthusiasm join our County as Public Health Officer.  We have a lot to gain from your deep knowledge and experience across all levels of government.”

Remarked Thomas.

Dr. Minson, a physician, inventor, and accomplished health official, expressed his honor and humility upon accepting the role. With a rich background in both public health and emergency response, he brings a wealth of experience to El Dorado County.

During his tenure at the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Minson played a pivotal role in creating and delivering the first National Health Security Strategy, the Telehealth Report to Congress, and Emergency Use Authorization policies. His expertise extends to chemical and biodefense, making him a valuable asset to the community.

A recognized expert in humanitarian response, Dr. Minson has participated in over 20 high-profile field deployments, including the aftermath of 9/11 and the US health and medical response to the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. He holds several appointments, including with the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, showcasing his commitment to advancing public preparedness and first responder standards.

Notably, Dr. Minson’s connection with El Dorado County is personal. Having visited the area during his honeymoon, he and his wife Kelli fell in love with it, making a promise to return if circumstances allowed.

“I really look forward to being a part of the community and doing great work,”

expressed Dr. Minson, whose tenure officially begins on Monday, November 20th. His annual salary is set at $251,721.60. The appointment signifies a significant addition to the county’s public health leadership, and residents anticipate positive contributions under Dr. Minson’s guidance.
