SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (December 1, 2023) – In a strategic move to curb the rising tide of retail thefts, the San Francisco Police Department, backed by the Burglary Unit and officers from Tenderloin and Southern Police Stations, executed a meticulously planned shoplifting enforcement operation dubbed “Blitz ’23.” The focus was on a retail establishment at 700 Mission St., chosen due to its alarming frequency of shoplifting incidents.
On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, the operation unfolded successfully, resulting in the apprehension of seventeen adult suspects, two of whom were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants. The stolen merchandise, recovered during the operation, was promptly returned to the beleaguered store. This marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts of the SFPD to secure local businesses from the persistent threat of theft.
