Placerville, November 24, 2023
The quaint town of Placerville is gearing up for a magical night as it kicks off the holiday season with its annual Hometown Christmas celebration on Main Street. The event, scheduled for November 24th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, promises a delightful evening filled with festive performances, treats, and the much-anticipated Christmas tree lighting.
Entertainment Extravaganza:
The festivities begin with the Ponderosa High School Jazz Band & Choir setting the festive tone. Studio 81 will enchant the audience with a holiday musical theater performance, while Imagination Theater brings snippets from “Matilda the Musical” to life. The Cantare Chorale of the Sierra Foothills and Folsom Lake Choir add their melodious voices to the mix, and the Impulse Dance Academy promises to captivate with their dance performances.
Adding to the seasonal cheer, the EDHS Cheerleader Hot Cocoa, Kettle Corn, and the EDHS Chess Club will be serving up Timmy’s Brown Bag Tacos & Burgers. Indulge your sweet tooth with Rainbow Orchards Apple Cider Donuts, complimentary Barsotti Family Juice, and Co. Hot Apple Cider served by the Placerville Rotary Club. Girl Scout Troop 153 will be spreading warmth with S’mores.
Tree Lighting Extravaganza:
At the heart of the celebration is the lighting of Placerville’s Christmas tree. Thanks to Sierra Pacific Industries, Doug Veerkamp Engineering, and Diamond Crane, the tree was erected on the morning of November 18th, creating a festive focal point for the town.
The highlight of the evening is the anticipated battle between Miss El Dorado & the El Dorado Rose and the Christmas tree at the Courthouse at 6:00 PM. Their efforts will illuminate the way for the arrival of Santa Claus, who will be stationed at T.W. Bonkers to listen to holiday wishes and pose for photos with Mrs. Claus.
Community Spirit:
This cherished tradition draws the Placerville community together, transforming Main Street into a hub of holiday spirit. The street will be lined with shops open late, ready to assist with your holiday shopping needs. Carolers will serenade the crowd with old-fashioned Christmas tunes, adding to the festive atmosphere.
As a word of advice, organizers recommend arriving early to secure parking, as Main Street will be closed to cars during the event. The Hometown Christmas celebration is a heartwarming way to commence the holiday season, creating memories for families, friends, and neighbors alike.
