EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. (October 9, 2023) – Brian Faddis and Rachel Leventin have been found guilty of first-degree burglary by a jury in El Dorado County.
The incident occurred in 2019, where they unlawfully took a safe containing an estimated $55,000 to $60,000 in cash from a residence in El Dorado Hills. The homeowners noticed a suspicious vehicle driving away from their property on May 4, 2019, and were informed by a neighbor that the driver had recently been in their backyard. Upon investigating, they discovered that the burglars had gained entry into their home by cutting a hole in the garage wall. The burglars had also stolen a wall safe from the closet, which held valuable personal documents and the significant amount of money.
Through careful investigation, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office found DNA evidence on a dust mask left behind in a bathroom, which linked Brian Faddis to the crime scene. It was later revealed that Faddis, a resident of the Roseville area, had been stopped by Placer County sheriff‘s deputies on May 27, 2019, while accompanied by Leventin. During the stop, authorities discovered over $26,000 in Leventin’s possession, as well as two hand-drawn maps depicting an aerial view of the victims’ residence. Furthermore, it was discovered that Leventin had a connection with one of the homeowners.
The verdict was delivered by a jury in the El Dorado County Superior Court, presided over by Judge Thomas A. Smith. Deputy District Attorney Brittany Griffith handled the prosecution of the case. Brian Faddis and Rachel Leventin are scheduled to appear before the court for sentencing on November 17th.
