AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. (November 10, 2023) – high-speed pursuit culminated in the arrest of a wanted man near the Amador/El Dorado county line on Thursday, November 2, at approximately 7:28 p.m. The Amador County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy initiated the pursuit after spotting Dustin James Woodruff, who was known to have several outstanding felony warrants from El Dorado and Placer counties, in addition to an active Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for felon in possession of a firearm.
The incident unfolded when the deputy, on routine patrol in the unincorporated area of Plymouth, observed Woodruff driving east on Miller Way. Aware of Woodruff’s legal status, the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop. However, Woodruff evaded the deputy at a high rate of speed, initiating a pursuit that traversed through Plymouth, east on Shenandoah Road, and west on Bell Road toward Highway 49.
The pursuit concluded at the Gold Beach Mobile Home Community in El Dorado County, near the El Dorado/Amador County line. Woodruff, realizing he was cornered, parked the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Quick response from additional Sheriff’s Office personnel led to Woodruff’s prompt apprehension without further incident.
Dustin James Woodruff now faces arrest for his outstanding felony warrants, and an additional charge of 2800.4 CVC for felony evasion. He was promptly booked into the Amador County Jail. The collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies underscores the commitment to ensuring the safety and accountability of individuals with active warrants in the region.
