UPDATE: Approved by 5-0 vote on Tuesday.
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. (October 17, 2023) – In a significant development for El Dorado Hills’ La Borgata center, a proposal to transform the former Sienna restaurant space into a dual-concept establishment is poised to reach a pivotal moment this week.
The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors is set to deliberate on this project during their meeting on Tuesday, and if greenlit, it promises to bring a unique blend of dining and entertainment to the area. Located at 3909 Park Drive, El Dorado Hills, this exciting venture would see the establishment of an upscale restaurant, yet to be named, featuring a seasonal menu. It would also house a card room offering poker games, creating a one-of-a-kind destination in the community.
However, before this vision can become a reality, the project must navigate a series of regulatory hurdles. Government officials, including the chief of the fire district, the county’s building official, the director of Building and Planning, and the sheriff, must approve the plans.
The Board of Supervisors is expected to discuss a resolution on today [Tuesday, Oct 17, 2023] which, if passed, will conditionally approve the application submitted by the project applicant, Randy Yaple. Notably, the sheriff’s office has endorsed the board’s conditional approval of the application.
Should this conditional approval be granted, the applicant will still need to present a comprehensive plan for the fire department’s approval. Furthermore, various aspects of the project must be reviewed and approved by the county’s chief building official. Additionally, the process will entail obtaining building permits for tenant improvements and signage, as specified in the resolution under consideration.
In an official statement sent by public affairs firm California Strategies LLC, project applicant Randy Yaple expressed his enthusiasm for the project’s prospects. “We are incredibly excited at the prospect of this project getting the green light to move ahead,” said Yaple. “We feel that we have secured an incredible venue and the perfect restaurant partner to bring a top-notch dining and entertainment establishment to El Dorado Hills.”
Randy Yaple, who acquired the license of the former Blacksheep Casino in Cameron Park back in 2014, is seeking to transfer that license to the Park Drive site. Earlier this year, California Strategies LLC revealed that Yaple was in negotiations for the sale of the license to a new entity and that he wouldn’t be the ultimate operator of the card room. The public affairs firm has stated that the identity of the acquiring entity will be disclosed as soon as a purchase agreement is executed.
It’s important to note that any potential license sale would still be contingent on approval from the California Gambling Control Commission and El Dorado County.
The business aims to occupy an expansive 9,515-square-foot space at the La Borgata dining and retail center, which is under the ownership of Ethan Conrad Properties Inc. The location previously housed Sienna, which relocated earlier this year to another restaurant space in El Dorado Hills.
As the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors convenes to discuss this proposal, the future of this intriguing dining and entertainment establishment hangs in the balance, with the potential to bring a unique addition to El Dorado Hills’ thriving culinary and entertainment scene.
