The Sand fire burned up to the front door of C.G. Di Arie Winery. Much of the winery only saved by the hard work of many firefighters says winery owner. When the smoke and fire cleared, the winery issued this message to concerned friends and customers.

Saturday proved a hard fought day for firefighters battling the Sand fire that by Sunday night had consumed over 3,800 acres, 13 residential structures and 38 outbuilding that have been destroyed, and forced the evacuation of hundreds of area residents and the closing of many businesses.
