In El Dorado County Superior Court Monday morning Erica Chambers pleaded not guilty to all charges against her, which include vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and fleeing the scene of a Nov. 11, 2022, fatal crash on Highway 50.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old Camino resident was initially arrested on suspicion of DUI and attempting to flee the scene but after more than a month of further examination of evidence California Highway Patrol officers took her into custody Dec. 20, 2022, on heftier accusations connected to the death of Mason Visman, who investigators say was a passenger in the Mercedes-Benz Chambers was driving.<\/p>\n

CHP Report:<\/h3>\n

“With the assistance of the El Dorado County District Attorney’s office, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Ms. Erica Chambers for the charges of 191.5(a) PC – Gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated , 20001(c) VC – Enhancement for fleeing the scene after committing a vehicular manslaughter, in addition to charges below. Based on this warrant, on Dec. 20, 2022, the Placerville Area of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrested Erica Chambers for her involvement in the death of Mr. Mason Visman. Through CHP’s investigation, it was determined that Chambers was the driver of the Mercedes-Benz at the time of the crash on November 11, 2022, and Mason Visman was the sole passenger. Mason Visman was ejected and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Additionally, the investigation determined Chambers fled the scene, was quickly apprehended and was determined to be driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage at the time of the crash.<\/div>\n
