CAMERON PARK, CA. (Food Bank of El Dorado County) \u2014 Did you know that the Food Bank often receives calls from the community requesting a special distribution to help those recently affected by an emergency such as a wildfire, storm or floods?<\/p>\n
On January 28th, the Food Bank of El Dorado County and the El Dorado County Library Hub came together to provide the Georgetown community with a special food distribution.<\/p>\n
Georgetown Fire Chief Brown and his team were hands on as the Food Bank truck rolled up with a truckload of fruit, produce, meats, juice, dairy, water, flowers, diapers, and non-perishables.<\/p>\n
On top of spending time distributing food to those in need on that sunny Saturday afternoon, the Food Bank staff also distributed over 90 $50.00 gift cards to those who attended the distribution. Many individuals that we spoke to have been misplaced from the Mosquito Fire or snowed in for multiple days. \u201cHaving extra food to bring home along with a $50.00 gift card was more than we ever expected\u201d were words we heard over and over from the community.<\/p>\n
District IV Supervisor Lori Parlin and her husband Sam Parlin, were there to lend a hand with the distribution. Supervisor Parlin works closely with the Georgetown Library and the Hub to assist the at risk in this remote area. Once the distribution was finished, Supervisor Parlin helped load any remaining food and diapers into the library for those that could not attend the distribution.<\/p>\n
On behalf of the Food Bank, thank you to our Georgetown Fire Department, Supervisor Lori Parlin, our hardworking volunteers and library staff for making this special distribution such a success in Georgetown.<\/p>\n
