SHINGLE SPRINGS, Calif. (October 16, 2023) – On Oct 14 a grass fire in Shingle Springs ignited by barbecue smoker ashes, consumed approximately 11.7 acres on a Saturday afternoon. The fire, reported just before 2:30 p.m., blazed through the Mistywood Lane neighborhood north of Highway 50. Thankfully, only one structure was threatened but remained unscathed. Cal Fire Amador-El Dorado Unit investigators determined the fire’s cause to be the improper disposal of smoker ashes, emphasizing the need for local residents to thoroughly extinguish embers.<\/p>\n
