EL DORADO COUNTY, CA. Sept 29 2023 – In light of the ecological crisis plaguing the Bay-Delta watershed, California’s water regulators unveiled a range of controversial options aimed at effectively managing the state’s crucial water supply.<\/p>\n
The Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan bears significant implications for both wildlife preservation and the provision of water to urban centers and vast agricultural areas. Recognizing that the current water quality and flow within the vulnerable San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta watershed have failed to adequately safeguard fish and wildlife, urgent updates are required in order to prevent further ecosystem collapse.<\/p>\n
Specifically, the plan emphasizes the establishment of minimum flows that should comprise no less than 55% of the volume of water that would have naturally flowed through these rivers had they not been obstructed or redirected.
