There have been nine owners and nine slight name changes to 50 Grand Restaurant & Bar in its 80 year history. Notice the years, and spellings. Sometimes it was spelt “Fifty,” sometimes it was the number “50.” Although 2023 brings the 80 year anniversary of “50 Grand,” the story of this establishment starts a little further back.<\/p>\n
1930<\/strong> Newt Grout, building built.<\/p>\n
1937<\/strong> sold to Frenchy & Ted Lang \u201cFrenchy\u2019s Caf\u00e9 and Store.\u201d The first restaurant here.<\/p>\n
1943<\/strong> Frenchy & Pete Peterson, they renamed \u201cFrenchy\u2019s\u201d to \u201c50 Grand Bar & Caf\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n
1945<\/strong> sold to Ernie and Dicie Endicott, renamed to \u201c50 Grand Club.\u201d<\/p>\n

1951<\/strong> renamed in January to \u201c50 Grand Restaurant\u201d<\/p>\n
1951<\/strong> sold in December to Bill & Marie Murray renamed \u201c50 Grand Coffee Shop & Cocktail lounge.\u201d<\/p>\n
1955<\/strong> sold to Robert & Maxine Miller and Mel & Maurine Soerber, renamed \u201cFifty Grand Bar & Caf\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n

1961<\/strong> sold to Everett and Melna Morris, renamed back to \u201c50 Grand Restaurant.\u201d<\/p>\n
1968<\/strong> Gene & Carlene Drury became partners with the Morris\u2019, then full owners of \u201cFifty Grand Restaurant.\u201d<\/p>\n
1990<\/strong> Candy (Gene\u2019s Daughter) & Larry Lequire, officially took over \u201cFifty Grand Steakhouse.\u201d<\/p>\n
2018<\/strong> sold to Jim & Kim McCarthy renamed to older name \u201c50 Grand Restaurant & Bar.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jim & Kim are working hard to preserve the history and memories of this establishment. This information took Kim hundreds of hours of searching at the county offices, & searching with helpers at the history museum and the library…just so 50 Grands legacy is preserved.
