Apple Hill Growers are preparing to show off the bounty of the region beyond the apples grown there each year.<\/p>\n
Summer Harvest Days<\/a>\u00a0are happening this weekend, July 29-30, and next weekend, Aug. 5-6 in Pollock Pines.<\/p>\n
According to a news release from Apple Hill Growers Association, 14 farms, wineries and breweries are offering special items and experiences for visitors.<\/p>\n
These include:<\/p>\n
24 Carrot Farm:<\/strong>\u00a0The summer bounty includes vegetables, stone fruits and berries. Enjoy U-pick strawberries, blackberries and flowers.<\/p>\n
Bluestone Meadow Farm: S<\/strong>tock up on luscious lavender products like soap and lotions in the gift shop.<\/p>\n
Boeger Winery:<\/strong>\u00a0The tasting room is offering wine serving flights, glasses and bottles in the tasting room, inside the cozy historic cellar on their picnic grounds from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Delfino Farms & Edio Vineyards:<\/strong>\u00a0Joan’s Apple Bakery will be selling peach desserts made with fruit from fellow grower GoldBud Farms. Edio Vineyards will be open for wine tasting.<\/p>\n
Fenton Herriot Vineyards:\u00a0<\/strong>The winery is serving flights, glasses and bottles in their picnic area.<\/p>\n
Goldbud Farms:<\/strong>\u00a0Opening this month, the farmstand will be stocked with ripe stone fruit, including peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots. If you buy five pounds of fruit, you’ll get it for the price of four these weekends.<\/p>\n
Harris Family Farm:\u00a0<\/strong>Pick your own flowers, marionberries and blackberries and enjoy live music and a marketplace of local vendors. The bake shop will be open with summer fruit delights, plus lavender lemonade and apple cider slushies. Don’t miss live music from noon \u2013 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
Hidden Star Camino:\u00a0<\/strong>Cool down in the Cider Barn with 24 hard ciders on tap, including six new summer-inspired flavors.<\/p>\n
Jack Russell Farm & Brewery:<\/strong>\u00a0Enjoy handcrafted ales, ciders and wines, including seasonal Blueberry Ale, Peach Pilsner and Peach Mead. Complement your visit with U-pick blueberries.<\/p>\n
Lava Cap Winery:\u00a0<\/strong>The tasting room and mountain gardens will be open from 10 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Madro\u00f1a Vineyards:\u00a0<\/strong>Pair a summer fruit dessert with Fiore, their white muscat with hints of peach and apricot. The tasting room will be open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Reservations are recommended.<\/p>\n
Pine-O-Mine Ranch:<\/strong>\u00a0The ranch will be serving BBQ fare, donuts, peach and apple cider shakes, hard cider, beer and more.<\/p>\n
Rucksack Cellars:\u00a0<\/strong>Taste wines that exhibit the depth and diversity of the Sierra foothills, while enjoying the scenic canyon view.<\/p>\n
Wofford Acres Vineyards:<\/strong>\u00a0Come for the wines, stay for the view! Purchase a bottle and your flight is on the house. Reservations are recommended.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to get people up in the summer to enjoy the beauty of the area and what summer bounty we have to offer,\u201d said Pam Harris, owner of Harris Family Farm.<\/p>\n
Harris also explained how crops were affected by heavy rain and snowfall late into the season this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve really had winter all the way up through April, which is pretty unusual,\u201d Harris said. \u201cSo all our berry crops are running two to four weeks late. All of our stone fruits are running maybe a few weeks late.\u201d<\/p>\n
Harris suggested guests check out the websites for the farms they are interested in visiting in advance of their trips to Apple Hill.<\/p>\n
