Northern California – It’s time to dust off those umbrellas and locate your raincoat; the weather in Northern California is about to take a turn. After a dry and warm day today, the region is preparing for an increase in shower chances that are expected to extend through the weekend. So, while the sun graces us with its presence today, it’s advisable to use this time wisely and make preparations for the incoming precipitation.

Today: Warm and Dry

Before we delve into the upcoming weather changes, let’s focus on the present. Today, interior Northern California will enjoy mostly sunny skies, with some haze in the morning. High temperatures are forecasted to range from 69 to 77 degrees, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Prevailing east winds, up to 10 mph, will gradually shift to the southwest in the afternoon.

Getting Ready for the Showers

As we head into Thursday and beyond, the weather outlook shifts. While Thursday is expected to be partly cloudy with highs between 68 and 76 degrees, more significant changes are anticipated for the weekend.

Weekend Washout

Starting Friday, the skies will become mostly cloudy, with a slight chance of rain showers in the morning. Highs are projected to reach 67 to 75 degrees, with prevailing east winds shifting to the southwest in the afternoon. The nighttime is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a slight chance of rain showers and temperatures ranging from 50 to 58 degrees.

The real shift occurs on Saturday and Sunday when the region faces mostly cloudy conditions with a higher chance of rain showers. Highs during this period are estimated to be between 56 and 71 degrees, with lows ranging from 49 to 57 degrees. Even Sunday night maintains the cloud cover and offers a slight chance of rain showers, with lows between 44 and 52 degrees.

Extended Outlook

As we look further into the forecast, Monday and Tuesday continue with mostly cloudy skies and maintain the chance of rain showers. High temperatures are expected to range from 51 to 66 degrees, while nighttime lows will be between 43 and 53 degrees.

So, there you have it. While today may be warm and dry, it’s a good opportunity to prepare for the coming showers.
