Placerville Highlights:
Transitioning to the historic Federated Church at 1031 Thompson Way, Placerville, the monks will embark on the creation of the Avalokiteshvara male deity mandala from January 8th through the 21st. This mandala embodies the universal compassion of all Buddhas and bodhisattvas. The public can engage with the monks’ artistic process daily from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m, culminating in the Avalokiteshvara dissolution ceremony on Saturday, January 20th, from 4-8 p.m.

Folsom Itinerary:
The journey commences in Folsom, supported by Mercy Folsom and Dignity Health, from January 3rd through the 6th at 1580 Creekside Dr., Community Education Room 1. Here, the Tibetan Buddhist Monks will craft the White Tara female deity mandala, symbolizing compassion and healing. The public is invited to witness the daily progress from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m, with a closing White Tara dissolution ceremony on Saturday, January 6th, from 4-6 p.m.

Purpose Beyond Art:
While the creation and dissolution of sand mandalas captivate the senses, the tour goes beyond visual splendor. The Gaden Shartse Monks will share their rich arts and culture, offering insights into Tibetan perspectives on the Buddha’s teachings. Attendees can partake in empowerments, astrology readings, healings, and blessings for individuals, families, businesses, pets, and the community at large.

Supporting a Sacred Cause:
This cultural extravaganza serves a noble cause—supporting the Gaden Shartse Monastic College in southern India. Founded in 1969, the college strives to revive the Gelug tradition of Tibetan monastic education. Today, it stands as a beacon of enlightenment, with over 1600 residents committed to Buddhist and Tibetan studies.

About Placerville Friends of Tibet:
Dedicated volunteers from Placerville Friends of Tibet, in collaboration with Arts & Culture El Dorado, have been fostering cultural understanding since 2003. This year’s tour is proudly sponsored by Dignity Health, The Karuna Center for Mindful Engagement, and Arts and Culture El Dorado.
