This milestone celebration promises an afternoon of reminiscence and camaraderie, showcasing the rich history of the region.

Hosted at the senior center within the Museum Complex located at 3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, the event unfolds from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dr. David Borges, serving as the Master of Ceremonies, will guide attendees through a journey back in time as longtime residents take the stage to share their cherished stories of days gone by.

Date and Venue Details:

  • Event Date: November 19, 2023
  • Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: Senior Center, Museum Complex, 3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe

Parking is conveniently available at the Museum Complex, with additional options at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center. Public transportation is encouraged for those seeking eco-friendly travel alternatives.

The LTHS extends a warm invitation to the community and kindly requests an RSVP by Tuesday, November 14. Respondents can call 530-541-5458, providing their name and the number of individuals attending. This will assist organizers in ensuring a delightful experience for all participants.

What to Expect:

  • Engaging Narratives: Longtime residents will regale the audience with captivating tales of the region’s history.
  • Historical Exhibits: Delve into the past by exploring the first museum, once housed in a log cabin in the Al Tahoe neighborhood. Witness the transformation as the museum shifted locations, including a move into the former library. Notable among the exhibits is the 1859 Osgood Toll House, with drawn plans of its preservation on display during the anniversary party.
  • Refreshments: Attendees can savor complimentary refreshments, fostering a convivial atmosphere.

The event is open to all and comes free of charge, although donations to support the ongoing preservation efforts of the LTHS are gladly accepted. As the Lake Tahoe Historical Society marks this significant milestone, the community is invited to partake in this celebratory journey through time. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be a part of this memorable event that honors the dedicated citizens who, half a century ago, set out to preserve the captivating history of Lake Tahoe.
