CHP Placerville is extending an open invitation to the local community to participate in the ‘CHiPs for Kids & Toys for Tots’ drive. This charitable initiative aims to bring some extra holiday cheer to families in need, and it’s an opportunity for all of us to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

This drive also coincides with a significant milestone – the 75th anniversary of Toys for Tots, a program that has touched the lives of countless American families.
Toys for Tots: 75 Years of Making a Difference
Toys for Tots began in 1947 as the brainchild of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks. Actually it was his wife, Diane, who was the real inspiration. She had a few handcrafted dolls and asked Bill to deliver them to an agency that supports children in need. When Bill reported back to his wife that he could not find such an organization, she instructed him to “start one!”
Today, the Marine Toys for Tots Program continues to make a difference, distributing an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children every year. It’s a testament to the enduring legacy of compassion and giving, where the generosity of individuals and organizations comes together to brighten the lives of children across the nation.
