(InEDC) Staff & Supervisor Thomas, CAMINO, CALIFORNIA – As autumn approaches, the charming town of Camino is gearing up for one of its busiest seasons – the Apple Hill Harvest. With the annual festival attracting thousands of visitors from near and far, the Camino Apple Hill Harvest Traffic Committee is working diligently to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance the overall experience for residents and tourists alike. Keeping traffic flowing smoothly during this busy time the coordination between EDC Transportation, DOT, the Apple Hill Harvest Traffic Committee, the City of Placerville, Caltrans, and Google is crucial in ensuring that visitors can easily access Apple Hill and support our local businesses.

By monitoring traffic on US 50 and implementing measures to prevent backups onto the mainline, we can prevent delays and ensure a seamless experience for visitors. The use of Caltrans changeable message signs to direct visitors to alternate routes such as Point View Drive, Cedar Grove, and Ridgeway Drive helps spread out the traffic impact and alleviate congestion.

Additionally, Woody’s collaboration with Google ensures that the newly implemented roadway configurations on the Camino Safety Project are accurately reflected in route mapping data platforms. This ensures that visitors are directed to the desired exits for the Apple Hill region and minimizes any confusion caused by the Camino Heights exit and the Ponderado Roundabout.

As news reporters, we recognize the significance of the harvest season for our local economy and the importance of supporting our farmers, wineries, and agricultural community. We acknowledge and appreciate the collaborative efforts of Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol in working together with us to facilitate a smooth and efficient traffic flow during this critical time.

Known for its picturesque apple orchards and delicious apple-based products, the Apple Hill region is a treasured destination for families, locals, and apple enthusiasts. For over fifty years, the annual Apple Hill Harvest has become a staple event, attracting visitors hoping to indulge in mouthwatering cider donuts, apple pies, and freshly-picked apples.

However, with the increasing popularity of the harvest festival, unfortunately, traffic congestion has become a recurrent issue in recent years. In a bid to resolve this recurring problem, the Camino Apple Hill Harvest Traffic Committee was formed, consisting of local leaders, transportation experts, law enforcement representatives, and community members.

One of the primary goals of the committee is to develop comprehensive solutions to alleviate traffic congestion during the festival while ensuring the safety of both visitors and residents. Through meticulous planning and strategic partnerships, the committee has crafted a multi-faceted approach to tackle this issue head-on.

Firstly, the committee has liaised with local law enforcement agencies to implement temporary traffic control measures. This includes the deployment of additional officers to moderate traffic flow, improve safety at busy intersections, and minimize potential bottlenecks. These efforts aim to ensure the uninterrupted movement of vehicles during peak festival hours.

Furthermore, the Camino Apple Hill Harvest Traffic Committee has also focused on expanding alternate transportation options. This year, several shuttle services will be available at designated pick-up points, offering convenient transportation for visitors to the festival grounds. By encouraging the use of shuttles, the committee hopes to reduce the number of individual vehicles on the road and ease congestion.

To mitigate roadblocks caused by parking shortages, the committee has also facilitated partnerships with local businesses and outdoor enthusiasts, providing off-site parking options. This collaboration will not only alleviate pressure on the designated festival parking areas but also support the local economy by driving visitors to surrounding businesses.

Additionally, the committee has collaborated with technological experts to develop a dedicated festival app that will assist attendees in real-time navigation, providing live updates on traffic conditions, available parking, and optimal routes to popular destinations within the Apple Hill area. This innovative approach aims to empower festival-goers with the information required to make informed travel decisions, ultimately reducing traffic bottlenecks.

The Camino Apple Hill Harvest Traffic Committee remains committed to refining its strategies and adapting to changing circumstances. By fostering inclusivity and maintaining open lines of communication, they aim to gather feedback from both residents and visitors, ensuring the continuous improvement of their traffic management initiatives.

As autumn looms on the horizon, the Camino Apple Hill Harvest Traffic Committee’s efforts provide a glimmer of hope for a smoother, more enjoyable festival experience. With their holistic approach and innovative solutions, visitors can look forward to savoring the delights of the Apple Hill Harvest without the frustration of the past.
