PLACERVILLE, Ca. (InEDC) — Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park will be celebrating the 175th Anniversary of the Gold Discovery. The gold discovery by James Marshall on January 24, 1848, sparked California’s famous gold rush and led to the greatest voluntary mass migration of people in the Western Hemisphere. Join us for special guest speakers, first-hand accounts of the discovery by historic figures, living history and mining demonstrations.
This event was first celebrated in Coloma in 1948, the centennial of the discovery.
