In the spirit of warmth and community, the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) has once again rallied local support to ensure no child in the county faces the chilly winter months without a coat. In a remarkable display of collective effort, EDCOE collaborated with school districts and county educational programs to identify students in need, receiving a staggering 419 requests this year.

Responding to this pressing demand, EDCOE launched a heartening initiative to collect winter coat donations. The backbone of this operation was the El Dorado County Education Fund, skillfully managed by the El Dorado Community Foundation. The success of this campaign was bolstered by substantial contributions from key benefactors, including The Women’s Fund El Dorado – Lighthouse Fund, Kiwanis Club of Placerville, Warm Winters, Dress for Less, and the California Highway Patrol. Individual donors, showing immense generosity, also played a pivotal role in making this endeavor a triumph.

Dr. Ed Manansala, the El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing the vital role played by sponsors and individual donors.

“Our generous sponsors and individual donors helped secure the funding needed to fulfill every request. Thank you for contributing to the warmth of El Dorado County children this winter!” remarked Dr. Manansala.

The success of the EDCOE Annual Coat Drive program can be credited to the unwavering support of EDCOE team members and the dedication of community partners. A special note of thanks is extended to all those involved in ensuring the well-being of El Dorado County’s students during the winter season.

This impactful program operates through a collaborative effort between EDCOE and district team members, who work closely with schools to identify and address the needs of students in the county. The community’s generosity and the dedication of those who contribute to the success of the Annual EDCOE Coat Drive are truly commendable.

As winter approaches, the warmth generated by this collective effort resonates far beyond the fabric of the coats – it reaches the hearts of El Dorado County, reminding us all of the power of community and compassion in the face of seasonal challenges.
