July 24, 1937 – July 22, 2023

Frederick “Fred” Sorsabal, 85, of Coeur d’Alene, ID, died 7/22/2023 in CDA. Fred was born July 24, 1937 in Fullerton, CA to Andrew and Earma (Thompson) Sorsabal.

He married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Hesser, July 25, 1958 in Anaheim, CA. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

He started working for the City of Anaheim as an intern his senior year in college, later becoming Assistant to the City Manager. He went on to become City Manager for the cities of Costa Mesa and El Segundo, as well as being the first City Manager for the City of Mission Viejo.

Fred is a Senior DeMolay; Past Master of Anaheim Lodge and now a member of Placerville Lodge #26 and Kootenai Lodge #24 in CDA; served the Masons of California as Grand Master in 2005-06; a 33° Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of El Bekal Shrine in Anaheim, having served as Potentate in 1986.

In addition to his wife, Marlene, Fred is survived by two sons, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a brother, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and six nieces, two nephews, their spouses and children.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the California Masonic Foundation or Shriners Hospital for Children.

Services in CA will be at the Sacramento Scottish Rite Center, 6151 H St., Sacramento on Monday, August 14th at 1:00 p.m. Please visit Fred’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
