PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA, June 9, 2022 \u2014 The El Dorado Wine Grape Growers Association is pleased to welcome\u00a0winemaker Bertus van Zyl<\/strong>\u00a0as our guest speaker on\u00a0Wednesday, June 15 at 6 p.m<\/strong>. The meeting will be held at the Placerville Veteran\u2019s Hall located at 130 Placerville Drive in Placerville.<\/p>\n
Bertus van Zyl,<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is the winemaker at Calistoga’s\u00a0<\/span>Tank Garage Winery<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>and Napa’s\u00a0<\/span>James Cole Winery<\/strong>. Van Zyl is also co-owner\/winemaker of\u00a0<\/span>Belong Wine Company<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>in Napa.\u00a0He will bring grape growers insight as a winemaker and grape buyer when working with different grape contract structures and arrangements. With recent wildfire events in mind, he will offer his perspective of smoke taint chemistry and tips on how growers can align their insurance and grape contract text to best protect their interest.<\/p>\n
The meeting will begin with a program and project update by\u00a0<\/span>Mark Egbert, District Director of the El Dorado Resource Conservation District<\/strong>. All El Dorado County grape growers, vintners and interested parties are invited. There is no charge to attend. Check-in and social time begin at 6:00pm.
